More Missions and at the end some fun!
Nuestra Senora del la Soledad is isolated also. But it was in ruins until 1955 when a small building a chapel were built.

San Carlos Mission is near Carmel Bay. It has a school. This is the mission where Junipero Serra died and was buried.

Santa Cruz was destroyed by earthquake and when it was rebuilt in 1955 was made only 1/3 the size. Across the street from it is a large Catholic Church.

We stopped at a farmers market that was filled with tourists. No good prices but we had fun with the scenery.
Finally, this sign is found every 5-7 miles along Rt 101. This road was known as El Camino Real and the bell is a symbol of the road.
